12/12/14 - South Staffs Water announces falling bills and increased investment over the next five years

South Staffs Water has announced that its bills will fall by a total of 4% over the next five years, before the effects of inflation.

Following the submission of its updated business plan in June, Ofwat, the water industry economic regulator, has published the Final Determination for South Staffs Water for the period 2015 to 2020.

Not only will its water bills fall from £141 to £135 (one of the lowest bills in England and Wales) but, the business has committed to maintaining and improving the service it delivers to its customers by setting its investment in the region of £480m over the next five years.

Throughout the business planning process the business has consulted with its customers and taken the time to listen to their views. This has shaped South Staffs Water's focus and priorities for the period ahead.

Phil Newland, Managing Director, said; "We believe that our business plan is positive for customers both now and in the longer term. It allows for low bills, high service and efficiency through innovation and delivering outcomes that our customers value. The plan has strong customer endorsement and is built upon our current high performance."
